The Lower Extremity in Asana with Joyce Anue

In this experiential workshop we will learn:
- Explore the anatomy and basic mechanics of the ankle, knee and hip and how this relates to asana
- Practice sequences and ways of moving that enhance the mobility and stability of the ankle, foot, knee and hip
- Learn to recognize and correct lower extremity misalignment of overstretching
- Learn to modify postures to avoid pain and strain in the ankles and knees
- Understand the energetic importance of "leg and foot work" and how it creates health in the body.
Come prepared for an informative, fun and challenging session. Workshop is open to teachers and students at all levels of practice. CEU's available for yoga teachers.

Pranayama and Meditation with Birgit Reimer
Saturday, February 11 from 1:00-4:00 pm in Mountain View
Birgit will share what she learned from her recent trip to Pune India where she studied with Prashant Iyengar. This workshop is also an introduction for the upcoming "Fundamentals of Pranayama and Meditation Series" with Elise Miller and Birgit starting February 15.
Pranayama is import for further evolution and involution on the yogic path. The breath is an expression of Prana or the life force energy that enlivens every cell of living beings. With the practice of the art and science of Pranayama all internal organs and systems as well as mental attitudes are positively influenced and balanced; the nervous system is calmed; stress is reduced and longevity increased. Please join this soothing and revitalizing journey.

Fundamentals: Pranayama & Meditation with Elise Miller and Birgit Reimer
Starts Wednesday, February 15 from 7:30-9:00 pm in Mountain View
This 6-week series created by Elise Miller and Birgit Reimer is aimed to help students deepen their knowledge of pranayama, the art and science of breathing. The main focus will be to learn the primary pranayama breathing techniques. The class will begin with restorative yoga poses to open the body and end with a meditation.
The benefits of regular pranayama practice may include: strengthening the immune system, increase lung capacity, balance endocrine and nervous systems, regulate slow/high blood pressure, enhance deep physical and mental relaxation and inner reflection.

Series fee is $120. Students can drop in to first 2/15 and 2/22 classes in the series at $25 per class. Fee can be applied to full series fee.
Heart Opening through Backbends with Elise Miller
Saturday, February 25 from 1:00-4:00 pm in Mountain View
Elise will lead students through standing pose sequences to warm up for an uplifting backbend practice. Elise will pace the class so that students will feel secure enough to work with a variety of backbend poses. Students should be familiar with standing poses and beginning backbends and have a minimum of six months of yoga experience.
Fee is $65 in advance or $75 on day of workshop.
Yoga for Scoliosis & Lower Back Using the Ropes with Elise Miller
Sunday, February 26 from 1:30-5:30 pm in Mountain View
Yoga is a powerful tool for relieving back pain. This class is designed for students of all levels who need careful attention given to their backs. We will identify and practice postures that emphasize both the strength and flexibility of the spine and lower extremities. Anatomy will be discussed as pertinent to the poses we learn. Elise will also teach poses using the yoga wall rope system that can help with scoliosis and lower back issues. Suitable for students and teachers, all levels.
Fee is $75 in advance; $85 on day of event.
